Today I did some serious oversleeping. It was long after three o'clock when I woke up, and the feral cats were already on the back porch waiting for their evening meal. There was an owl who must have been suffering some sort of sleep disruption, too, as I heard it hooting somewhere among the trees to the east. The sun was bright, but the sky still had many fluffy clouds, and the air remained cool for the remainder of the afternoon. It was too late to open the windows. Probably just as well, as my frequent sneezes tell me that there is quite a bit of pollen drifting about.

Anyway, oversleeping meant everything was delayed, and I've only just now finished the laundry. It's going to be a very late dinner tonight. Luckily it's a bean night, and that doesn't take long to heat up. I hope tomorrow I can get up earlier. Today was pretty much a waste. I didn't even get any foxtails pulled up because I lost the light, and the dryer the ground gets, and the taller to foxtails grow, the harder it is to get them out. There's no more rain in sight, and a couple of upcoming warm days could bake the soil very dry. Spring was late, and it looks like summer might be early.

Time to toss Portia off my lap and get my dinner.
