There were some nice, fluffy white clouds earlier today, but as the afternoon warmed up they all vanished and were replaced with a vague haze. It's too bad they've gone, as they set off the pink dogwood blossoms far better than the plain blue sky and green trees do. They might reappear this evening, as they sometimes do this time of year. For now I'm watching the soft breezes flutter the leaves and strip green blossoms from the mulberry tree. The lowest branches of the mulberry are finally sprouting a few leaves, so there will be shade for the next hot spell.

Well, that will teach me to lie down on the couch for a few minutes when I haven't had enough sleep. Wait, no, it won't. The same thing has happened before, and I still ended up doing it today and had a three-hour unintended nap. Now dinner is late, and the feral cats are distressed from going unfed, and Portia is annoyed by having missed her late afternoon outdoor time. I also failed to get the windows open at the right time, so the house will only air out for an hour before the night gets too chilly and I have to close them again. I ought to have had some iced tea ready for this afternoon. Tomorrow, then.
