The day grew steadily dimmer until by the time of the invisible sunset it seemed that night had already fallen. By then, a soft rain had begun to fall, too, and gusts of wind began rattling the leaves of the shrubs and making the pines mutter. I'm hoping my oven keeps working another hour, as I've got something cooking (put on too late again, but not because of a nap this time; I just got hung up on the Internets and forgot.) So far there haven't been any snowflakes mixed into the rain, and maybe there won't be. The clouds seem to be holding in what little heat the day provided, so it might not get cold enough to snow.

The rain continues to be soft, and has yet to form any puddles or rivulets. The downspouts are barely dripping. This storm's bluster may be confined to its gusty wind. Just as well if it is. The leak in my roof is still unpatched, so the less rain we get the less likely my insulation will get soaked and heavy and come crashing down with a weakened ceiling.

I'm quite sure there is something on television that I wanted to watch, but again I've totally forgotten what it was. I'd better go fire the machine up and see what's on.
