The clouds that are supposed to bring rain before morning have finally arrived and are blotting out the stars, but the light of the moon manages to seep through them and marble a patch of the otherwise dark sky. The chill has silenced the frogs, and the air is heavy. I slept half the afternoon under a pile of blankets, and will probably be awake long past midnight, trying to stay warm as best I can. The furnace is already running too much, though I've got half the rooms closed up. It's going to be a costly week. March will bring five grocery shopping days and two appointments with the chiropractor, so I don't dare raise the thermostat any higher lest the addition of an enormous gas bill cause me to fall short of the savings I'll be needing to pay for the fire insurance come July. I wish I had some of July's heat right now, to offset this February cold, but months are so uncooperative.
