Another Blow

First, I woke up early in the morning after about three hours of sleep and before the sun had risen. Then I fell asleep on the couch about four o'clock in the afternoon and woke up at half past eight, after the sun had set. So I woke up in the dark twice today, and waking up in the dark is one of my least favorite things to do. The evening waking was worst, as I'd come unglued in time and thought it was early Saturday morning. Plus I'd missed my afternoon shower, and now the house is going to be too cold for showering unless I crank the furnace up. Portia was annoyed, too, as her water bowl was empty and her litter box full.

And now I'm sneezing. The wind must have stirred something into the air. It's really blowing tonight, and I'm sure that the driveway I swept so clean last night will be covered with leaves and pine needles by morning. Autumn has definitely begun.
