Stuff

The overcastiness is making it feel a bit more wintry here, but the dryness is working against that feeling. The good news is that the chance of rain on Saturday has been boosted back up to 90%. The bad news is that it's going to be a cold rain, and Saturday night's low will be near freezing. Well, I guess I can't have everything. Better to be colder and wet than warmer and dry. It is winter, after all, and if we don't get the rain in winter we don't get the reservoirs filled. Near freezing here means freezing farther up in the mountains, and that means snow, and that means snow-melt next spring, and if it happens often enough that means I get to take showers more than once a week next summer.

I got careless around Portia's claws and she gave my left hand a good scratch. It wasn't intentional scratching, but I yelled so loudly at her that she dashed off and hid. Now I feel bad about scaring her, though I'd say my hand feels worse. I once had some stuff I could spray on scratches, but I haven't been able to find it. If Portia scratched me more often I'm sure I'd remember where it was. So it's all her fault for not being aggressive.

Today's sleep pattern was weird, of course, and I have no idea what tonight will bring. Maybe I'll be awake until dawn, and maybe I'll fall asleep before I can even fini
