Slow

Today was about the warmest January day I can recall since coming here 27 years ago. As is usually the case with warm days in winter, the night has turned breezy. It's still not very cold out, although there is a bit of wind chill at work. But the main thing the wind is doing is sucking water from plants and soil. They have little to give up. The air smells strongly of pine resin. That's not a typical winter smell here, as pines don't emit much scent when it's cold. Tonight it smells like spring out there, but it's an awfully dry spring.

The computer has been very slow the last couple of days, and I've fallen behind on reading LJ. I think I'm subscribing to too many feeds. It certainly isn't regular journal entries that keep my friends page updating. Maybe it's a god thing LJ has gotten so empty. I can remember when I could zip through fifty or sixty new journal entries a day with no problem, but I don't seem to be reading very fast these days. It doesn't help that pages are taking forever to load and to scroll.

There's a busy day tomorrow, and probably for the next couple of days, and then it will be Sunday again and time to go shopping. Are Sundays getting closer together? It certainly feels that way. Maybe that's why it's been so warm here lately. Molecules of time are bumping against one another as time speeds up, and the friction is generating heat. They should try that in Chicago.
