The wind died down today, but the mulberry tree still didn't get trimmed. There is now a scheduling problem, so I don't know when it will get done. The trimming has to be done before the buds appear, and the weather has been so warm lately that I fear the budding might come early. It's supposed to get a bit cooler next week, and there is now a chance of rain predicted starting next Thursday. As the last rain turned out to be nothing but a day of sprinkles and occasional drizzle, I'm not going to get my hopes up, but if next week turns out to bring a real storm there will be cause for celebration. Still, even if it does come it is apt to be fairly warm rain, so there won't be much snow in the mountains, and that's what we need most.

Meanwhile, Sacramento broke its all time record high temperature for the month of January today. We were only a couple of degrees below a record for the date here, but records for the date were broken at several places in the valley. It's really not looking good for summer when January is hotter than a normal April.

I'm going to try to stay awake long enough to see the half moon rise tonight, but I woke up so early this morning that it might be difficult. This is one of those times when I wish I had some coffee that wasn't decaffeinated on hand. It would be especially nice iced.
