It has rained most of the day, but not very impressively. There have been no downpours, and the total from the storm will probably end up being less than an inch. That's more than we've had in one day since autumn, but it won't make much of a dent in the drought. There could be more rain tomorrow, but right now it is easing up, and I suspect that the storm will come to a premature end. It's apt to be weeks until we get another— if we ever get another. It will keep a few plants alive a bit longer, though.

The camellia bush is blooming furiously, and buds have emerged on other bushes. They are just in time for the colder weather. Winter is going to make a stab at being wintry, but again I don't expect it to be anything like our normal winter weather. Days will be in the mid-fifties and nights in the mid-thirties for the next week or so. What will happen after that is anybody's guess. I wouldn't be surprised to have a heat wave in March.

I still haven't gotten any vinegar, so no coleslaw again tonight. Perhaps the prolonged deprivation will serve as a reminder next time I shop.
