I was thinking I was really lucky not to have gotten any ants in the house despite the rain and the mild weather, and then tonight I had to kill about a dozen ants in the kitchen. I haven't left anything lying around for them to eat, so I don't know what they are doing indoors— unless they are carpenter ants and are planning on eating the house itself. They don't look big enough to be carpenter ants, though, unless they are very young ones. Anyway, I'm going to have to do some serious cleaning in there with products that ants don't like. Maybe I can get something at the store tomorrow.

Other than that, it's been a dull day, pretty much the same as yesterday. Next week's rain is still scheduled, and now I worry that it might bring a bigger ant infestation. After a spring rain is the time they are most likely to come in. Big infestations bring a lot of ant crushing, and then the house smells of formic acid. I'd rather that didn't happen until it gets warm enough for me to leave the windows open most of the time.

My neck has been uncomfortable most of the day, so I'm not sitting at the computer much. The next appointment with the chiropractor isn't until March 11, so I have to do what I can to minimize the dislocation.

Almost belated happy birthday, George Washington. You don't get your own holiday anymore.
