Dumb Stuff

The balmy afternoon led me to open the windows, and then I fell asleep on the couch and didn't wake up until after nightfall. The chilly night air was flooding the house, and I've had to have the furnace running to warm it back up. Tomorrow will be cooler and I probably won't be tempted to open the windows again, and then Wednesday could bring rain and more cooling. It could stay cool for the next couple of weeks. I'm a bit annoyed at myself for having squandered what might be the last mild day this month.

The warmth brought out lots of bees, though only a few flowers are blooming. There is lots of new growth on the rose bushes, but so far nothing that looks like it will become a rose. It's possible that I did the major trimming I gave them a few weeks ago wrong. Maybe there won't be any roses this year. The hummingbirds will be terribly disappointed.

I think that the jasmine might have developed some problems too. There are quite a few dying leaves on it. It might be merely the lack of sufficient rain, but it might be some sort of plant disease. I see no sign of insects on the dying leaves. But it's more evidence of my not-at-all-green thumb. It's really a wonder that any plants at all survive in my yard.

Because of the unintentional afternoon nap I'm not sure when I'll sleep tonight. I won't be at the computer, though. It has been one big clog today, and I'm going to let it rest. That probably won't help it, but at least it will not give me more frustration.
