The storm has passed through and left a chilly night. It wasn't much of a storm, though I must have slept through the heaviest part. It had been drizzling for a couple of hours by the time I went to sleep last night, and the rain had stopped by this morning, but today the bucket under the back porch skylight had a quarter inch of water in it, and the skylight only leaks when the rain gets pretty heavy, so it must have rained hard for an hour or so as I slept. The clouds gradually cleared though the day, and by evening there were only a few thunderheads perched over the mountains and some cirrus above the valley. Tonight the sky is clear, revealing the gibbous moon.

I slept in a split shift again, waking about five o'clock in the morning and returning to sleep about nine. Then I woke after two o'clock in the afternoon, and for some reason I thought it was Tuesday and that I had a little more than an hour to get ready for my appointment with the chiropractor. It was only when I looked outside and saw that nobody had any trash cans on the street that I realized it was only Monday. Still I was so temporally disoriented that I turned on the computer to check the date before I was convinced. It was much easier to keep track of dates when I had a subscription to a daily newspaper.

It's a good thing that I just I reminded myself that tomorrow is trash day. I've got to get the wheelie bins out before it gets too late. They make such a racket that I fear waking the neighbors. Distressing the feral cats is inevitable, regardless of the hour. They do hate those wheelie bins.
