I came home from my day-late grocery shopping trip and thought I had to post Sunday Verse. Now I'll probably be getting the day wrong all week. There are worse things, of course. One worse thing is going to fill your Brita water pitcher and discovering that the pre-filter section has an earwig in it. I had to wash the pitcher, and I still think of that earwig every time I pour a drink of water. I might just drink beer until I forget about it.
This week I didn't get any goodies at the store, unless you want to count the four peaches I got for 99 cents a pound. They were the only cheap fruit this week. It's probably the drought that's keeping prices high, which means fruit will probably be expensive all summer. I haven't seen any cherries in the stores at all this year, though I've seen Washington state cherries advertised for $5.99 a pound at the expensive store across town. I won't be buying any cherries at that price, though I might buy a few if they get down to half that. This year I really miss the cherry tree in the back yard that died a few years ago.
The lingering evenings are still playing havoc with my perception of time. It still feels like early evening right now even though it's approaching eleven o'clock. The last light left the sky only an hour ago. It's a good thing I don't live in Alaska. It would be past midnight before I remembered to get dinner.
