Sky, Sky, Sky

I can almost forgive the clouds that are holding in the day's heat tonight, because the moon is more than half full and the clouds slowly drifting across it are making for a very lovely, constantly changing sky. It's still not quite cool outdoors, but it's more comfortable than being in the stuffy house, so I'm going back out to watch the show.

Meltdown

The clouds have been hanging around all day again today, and though they prevented the day from getting quite as hot as it might have, they have also brought a mugginess that makes the heat more oppressive. They are supposed to dissipate by tomorrow, but before they go they will give us one more sultry night. I'm looking forward to Friday night, when the temperature will drop into the mid-60s for the first time in more than a week and it will probably be possible to get the house below 70 for a couple of hours. After that the nights are expected to get hotter again. If this July were a person it would already have the reputation of being a total dick.

Still groggy from my afternoon nap. It's a watering night, buy I'm afraid that getting the ground wet will just contribute to the humidity. Plus the cat is shedding from the heat and I'm constantly brushing away cat hairs that get on my face and annoy me. They are everywhere! Most years I fantasize of being able to hibernate through winter. This year I'm fantasizing about being able to hibernate through summer. Give me a break, July!
