I managed to avoid turning on the air conditioner today even though the house got up to 80 degrees. The evening is cool, though, and with the fan going it is already down to 78. By two or three o'clock int he morning it should be quite comfortable. In the meantime, I'm going to microwave some dinner and then sit outside for a while and listen to the crickets. There are only a few of the irritating cicadas buzzing yet, and the crickets still dominate the nocturne.

It sure didn't take today's heat long to knock me on my arse, though. I didn't feel like doing anything for several hours. That's why dinner is going to be so late. The good news is that tomorrow is now expected to be slightly cooler than today, and it might cool off a bit more next week. Could August be running out of steam? Oh, I do hope so.
