Falling Things III
Oct. 27th, 2014 10:48 pmAnother wheelie bin has been filled with dead leaves (and a few prunings of the rose bushes) and put out for collection tomorrow. Better, the rain gutters have been cleaned in time for the next rain, which is expected to arrive on Friday. In the meantime I have a semi-tidy yard. The next storm will undoubtedly blow more leaves down, and I'll be back where I started.
The big oak next door is just about bare now, but the oak in my own back yard has barely begun to shed, still being mostly green. I don't recall ever having seen such a divergence between the two trees, and I hope the early browning of the neighbor's oak doesn't presage its death and collapse. It leans over my den and, should it fall in some future wind storm or when heavily laden with wet snow, it would probably do considerable damage to my house.
As I woke early and exhausted myself raking most of the morning, I ended up napping for much of the afternoon and didn't get around to reading LJ until a short time ago. I haven't completed the task, but must go eat something. I don't know if I'll be reading more later or will fall asleep again and have to put it off until tomorrow. That's the second time this has happened lately. It is odd to have days thus displaced, making me feel as though I'm surely missing something. Am I missing something?
