Tuesday I finally remembered to water the plants in the back yard before it got too dark. The grape vine is leafing out very nicely, with many runners reaching toward the sunlight. If I can get the Godzilla bush trimmed back, they'll have an easier time of it. The Godzilla bush will be hard to trim. It has gotten huge and many of its stems are very thick, and most are also hard for me to reach, being well above my head, where my arms no longer go. I think I'm going to need help with it.

The mild afternoon was quite pleasant, and the evening grew quickly chilly, but today is going to get hot. The apartment should get cool enough overnight that no air conditioning will be needed. If it does I can probably afford to splurge. This is the month we get the California Climate Credit, which usually eliminates my bill altogether and leaves enough for a discount on the next month's bill. However, June is apt to have me sweating more ways than one, and I don't even want to thin about July, August, and September. I have a very bad feeing about this summer.

It was my plan to arrange to go on a grocery shopping trip today, but I didn't get around to it, and since tomorrow is the last day I can go without some of the stuff I need (does that sentence make any sense?) I must make the arrangements today. I'm sure I'd be unable to get out today, and probably won't even have my list finished, but I need to get out by Thursday afternoon at the latest. I wish my brain were still organizable enough to do things on time, but there it is, the home of the early morning hamster and the afternoon sloth, and the evening chicken with its head cut off.

I just stepped outside for a minute to sniff the air and I heard the mockingbird singing its nocturnal mating song. That was very relaxing, and should help me sleep, So does this pleasant little waltz for piano and electric bass by Charles Berthoud I've been listening to at YouTube. It apparently doesn't have a name, but I think of it as The Minute and fifty-One Second Waltz. I never seem to get tired of it, even as it makes me sleepy.
