Reset Forty, Day Twenty-Six
May. 4th, 2022 05:05 amTuesday I slept late again, and didn't get up until two o'clock. About one o'clock this morning I had a brief window of opportunity when I began to nod off, but there was something I wanted to finish doing on the Internet, and by the time I'd finished I was awake again. As I'd really like to get up a bit early for a morning or two, I need to take advantage of those opportunities. Maybe I'll get another one tonight.
It's supposed to get up to 90 degrees here today, the peak of the current hot spell. It will be only in the seventies by Thursday, and a pleasant surprise is a forecast of 65 on Sunday and Monday. That's good news, even though it means the furnace might come back on for an hour or two each night. I can afford it, since I haven't used any gas for quite a while and haven't needed the air conditioner yet either. The bill will not get huge.
There is still a phone call I need to deal with, which is why I'd like to get to sleep and then get up early at least one night this week. It takes two or three hours for my brain to become even minimally functional after I wake up (or "wake up") and by then it's too late to try talking about complicated stuff on the phone. The curse of being nocturnal. But I do enjoy my nights, much of the time, which is the blessing of being nocturnal. Raccoons know what I'm talking about. So, perhaps, does the mockingbird who is singing somewhere down the bike path right now. Though for him it's mostly curse, I guess, since they only sing at night when they don't have a mate. But I'm sure the raccoons know what I mean.
