Reset Forty, Day Forty-Four
May. 22nd, 2022 05:57 amSaturday morning and afternoon I slept so much (though with more than a few interruptions) that I've felt no need for a nap since. I might be getting a bit tired now, but I' not certain I'll even be able to get to sleep easily now. It could be that I'm going into a hyper state and won't sleep well for the next few days. Unfortunate, since I'm pretty sure I'll need to do some shopping quite soon. My timing of things seems to grow ever more askew. At this stage I'm like a top that starts wobbling, slows down, then falls over. The wobbling looks exciting, but it presages a collapse.
Odd thing: for about fifteen minutes Saturday afternoon my left foot became very sore. It felt like the sole was on fire. I wondered if my ingrown toenail had become infected, but it wasn't painful in itself, and didn't look unusual. After a few minutes the pain began to diminish, and a short time later it was gone, as mysteriously as it had arrived. What the hell was that about? And why was I never told that such things could happen when you got old?
Since Saturday was slightly cooler than Friday, I've been slightly less uncomfortable overall, and the evening was not half bad. It was mild enough that I was able to make some hot soup for dinner, and enjoy it, and then there was a midnight concert from the mockingbird, which was a pleasant way to end the day. Later I got hung up on some annoying Internet work, but that's over now, and I'm going to unwind with a bit of music from YouTube. I can't help but worry, though, when things get this much less utterly crappy than is typical anymore, that something horrible is about to happen. I mean besides the triple-digit highs coming up this week. But maybe the heat should be crap enough for anyone. I won't go looking for trouble. I'm sure it can find me when it wants to.
