Reset Forty-One, Day Thirty-Seven
Jul. 1st, 2022 01:26 amArrangements were made Thursday for a bank and shopping trip today, and it's going to be a busy one, and an expensive one. I'm out of so much stuff, and want to stock up on a few sale items as well as some that are not (alas) on sale. I'm adding an additional store to the itinerary, and hope it doesn't turn out to be too exhausting. We won't be able to go until fairly late in the day, and it's going to be hot as hell-adjacent, and probably quite zoo-like, it being the start of a holiday weekend. But two of the stores have curbside pickup, which means the most onerous part of shopping, the shopping, will mostly be done online. I really don't find that any less obnoxious than shopping in person (in some ways it's worse) but at least it will be done before I ever have to go out, so the actual trip will go a bit faster than it otherwise would.
I am short of sleep, having gotten a spam phone call before ten o'clock Thursday morning and then having been unable to get back to sleep. The light leaking through and around the window blinds seemed oddly faded, which made it seem later in the day than it actually was. When I got up and looked outside I saw that the smoke from the fire to the south was drifting high above the mini-metropolis, dimming the sunlight. Sadly it didn't seem to do much to diminish the heat. It did stink the place up though.
I am also hungry, having been unable to decide what to eat for dinner from my diminished supply of foodz. I suppose I'll have to eat something before I try to sleep again, but it will have to be something quick. Had I been thinking earlier I could have heated up one of my frozen lasagnas, but they take too long to cook to be starting one this late. They don't microwave well. I think I've got a noodle bowl that wouldn't be too bad, and there is still beer to wash it down with, which is the most important part of dinner anyway. I have stuff to do, and will need to get up fairly early again today to get the tedious online shopping done so I can get the pickup time I want. I'll be glad when this crap is over and I can go back to my normal summer torpor. I should have been born a sloth.
