The larder is once again stocked, not quite as thoroughly as I'd like, but I did splurge on a couple of things not on sale that I really wanted. Other things were unavailable or just too expensive. It was exhausting, of course, as going out always is anymore, but the two stores I went into were not as crowded as I'd expected, nor was the traffic as heavy as it usually is on a Friday afternoon in the mini-metropolis. In the end I did not spend all my money, and I did get a few special things that will provide some distractions from the unpleasant moments I'll inevitably suffer over the next couple of sultry weeks. Success, I guess.
But it did leave me quite tired, and I did nod off for a while after returning home, and I didn't prepare one of the fancier-than-usual meals I bought ingredients for. That will wait until Saturday night. Friday I just had a sandwich for the first time in over a week, on fresh bread. Saturday morning (or more likely afternoon) I'll get orange juice, and then iced tea, with a donut, and then after dinner I'll happily anticipate a late evening snack of a fresh chocolate cupcake and some chocolate milk with a scoop of chocolate ice cream in it. I'm going to OD on chocolate, with great delight.
The weather was of course a maker of misery, with heat aggravated by abnormally high humidity, but tonight the low is forecast to be 66, and no lows above 70 are predicted for the next two weeks. The days will be slightly cooler as well, so perhaps the worst of summer is behind us now (though I probably shouldn't tempt fate by saying that.) Anyway, I'm set for a while and don't have to bother with going out again for a month or so, though I might need somebody to pick up some fresh bread and orange juice for me and maybe some fresh veggies and fruit. But I'll get to stay in my air conditioned cubby for most of what remains of summer. Yay.
