Reset Forty-Three, Day Three
Aug. 9th, 2022 05:55 amWeirdness. Somebody woke me up Monday morning (or afternoon— I don't recall just what time it was) and thinking it might be a nephew who is coming over at some point to harvest some grapes or perhaps the mail carrier bringing a rare package, I got up and looked out the bedroom window, which is just a couple of feet down from the front door. Somebody was out there, but my eyes are especially blurry when I first wake up and I couldn't tell who it was, though it wasn't the nephew or the mail guy. Anyway, I waved and I'm sure they saw me, and then I put on a shirt and went to the front door, but then it got odd. I'm not sure how long it took me to get the door open, as I found myself standing next to it just staring and wondering why I was there, until I remembered that someone was out there, though at that point I suspected I might have dreamed the whole thing. When I opened the door, nobody was in sight.
So now I have unanswered questions. Was there anybody at the door, and if so who was it? How long was I standing at the door before I opened it? Somewhere between the window and the door did I actually fall asleep again, standing up, or even walking? The thing is, when I was a kid there were a few sleepwalking incidents, though my memory of them is now terribly vague, and in recent times I have sometimes found myself just standing in one spot (most often in front of the refrigerator) with no memory of how I got there and uncertain of why I was there. Some things I had when I was very young have returned in recent years (coughing when I first lie down, sudden onset stomach aches with no apparent cause, excess salivation, itchy eyes) so maybe the sleepwalking has come back too.
Anyway, the whole day just felt odd after that, and I was unable to use the Idernet to distract myself as my connection kept failing again, as it did a couple of weeks ago. I snacked instead of fixing dinner, then my lack of sleep caught up with me and around ten o'clock in the evening I took a nap which lasted until after two in the morning again. I was going to fix dinner after I got up, but haven't felt like it, and now it's nearing dawn and I'm feeling tired again. At least my Idernet is working, and the place has cooled off a bit, but my brain is still fuzzy and my attention unfocused. And I haven't heard the mockingbird tonight. I'll have to make do with music videos.
A high of only 91 degrees is expected today, and then an overnight low of 63. That's endurable. Maybe I'll have Monday's dinner for Tuesday's lunch. Right now I think I'll have an extra donut before I try to get back to sleep.
