Reset Forty-Three, Day Twenty-One
Aug. 27th, 2022 07:26 amFriday ended up with two sleep shifts, one that lasted until around three o'clock in the morning and the other from about nine in the evening until after one o'clock this morning. In between I got a few things done. I got some information from my phone appointment, and then I ordered groceries to be delivered, which arrived that afternoon. This is the first time I've had stuff delivered, and barring an emergency of some sort will probably be the last.
It will certainly be the last from that particular store, and probably from any store that uses the Instacart system, as Instacart bites. In fact I'd say that Instacart bites big wienies, except you probably can't get big wienies through Instacart. Not only was stuff I know that store had in stock not available on the web ordering system, but many items the store advertised on sale were full price with online ordering. The system is difficult to use, too. As long as Instacart is running their show that way I'll only order online from the one store in town that has its own ordering system, which is much better designed and always gives the same sale prices as the store advertises for in-store shoppers. That store is a bit more expensive, but it's worth it for the better experience. As for the delivery itself, the extra fees make it much too costly, so my online purchases in the future will be only for curbside pickup service.
But even online shopping is exhausting, especially after only getting four hours of sleep, so the evening nap happened. By the time I got up again the dinner sandwich I'd had was wearing off, so I microwaved a ramen bowl for a very late (or early) snack. I believe an ice cream cone was also consumed, but I'm not admitting to having done that myself (don't ask me how I know it was chocolate.)
It is not so hot as it was last week, and the night grew deliciously cool, but there are more triple digit highs on the way during the first week of September. I'm ready for summer to be over. I've been ready since July. I might not get it until October. So it goes.
