Reset Forty-Five, Day Two
Oct. 7th, 2022 06:12 amThursday brought a largely failed evening nap. From around eight o'clock until half past ten I remained in bed, after having done the nodding off in front of the computer thing for a while, but I turned out not tired enough to actually get to sleep. There were unsatisfactory catnaps interspersed with bouts of worried hamster brain, with little dream fragments usually involving being on the edge of cliffs and about to fall over. I finally got up and watched music videos, and eventually ate a sandwich.
I also downed about half a pint of ice cream, which was probably not the best idea, but since I already felt like crap I decided I should eat it so it wouldn't go to waste over the next month while my carcass was lying here rotting. Now it feels like I probably won't die tonight after all, but I'm not going to worry about that because I have two more pints of ice cream in the freezer. I'll just postpone the whole dying thing. Yes, I know, procrastination is a terrible vice, but I'd like to have a few days of genuinely autumnal weather again before I kick the bucket, so this time it's in a good cause.
It's quite annoying that although it is now October at night, the days are still stuck in August. The 30 degree plus diurnal temperature ranges are most annoying, and even with that, the fan must run very late at night to cool the apartment down. Then the apartment invariably heats up before I wake the next day, and I don't like waking up hot and sweaty. The current long range forecast runs though October 21, and there is not a single day showing a high that is not in the eighties or nineties. I miss the days when October actually felt like fall.
