Reset Forty-Five, Day Twenty-Four
Oct. 29th, 2022 08:00 amFriday was disrupted by an early phone call, before nine o'clock in the morning. After it was over I tried to et back to sleep but couldn't, and after some two hours I gave up. Naturally I crashed later that afternoon, and sometime around four I went back to bed. When I woke again it was dark, and I had no idea how long I'd been sleeping. I didn't want to get up, and dozed a bit more, half hoping I would see a bit of morning light around the binds, but eventually rose to find it was only half past nine.
The time since is mostly a blur, but I did finally get around to fixing dinner sometime after midnight. It wasn't very good, but a bottle of Guinness compensated for that. My various random thoughts have been mostly sad. In fact wen I first woke in darkness I thought there was no reason to go outside and see the empty night sky, as the sadness was as vast and oppressive. Why compound it? Mostly I've just looked forward to getting back to sleep, which should happen fairly soon. It's supposed to be a bit warmer today, and Sunday could actually bring a high of eighty degrees again— a last gasp of summer— but then there is to be a chilly Tuesday, with a 65% chance of rain. I expect the furnace will come on that morning, for the first time this year. My mouth is already watering for the hot chocolate and cinnamon buns.
