Nov. 3rd, 2022

Wednesday I woke up too early, sleeping only from around six in the morning until half past ten. That means I got to see some of the overcast morning, but then the afternoon gradually cleared until by three o'clock it was sunny and bright, though still quite chilly. It would have been a nice afternoon for a walk, if I'd still had the energy for walking. As I don't, I spent those hours on the Idernet, with the blinds next to the table open so I could see the birds plucking berries from the pokeweed under the small patch of blue sky that was visible.

Evening I did a lot of nodding off, and finally went back to bed around eleven o'clock. As the apartment is now feeling chilly, it was nice to get under the covers, and I slept for several hours. It was still dark when I woke, and the usual random, mostly distressing, thoughts went running through my mind while I waited to see if any light appeared though the blinds. I didn't look at the phone to see what time it was, as I was afraid it was only about three and I had several hours of darkness to get through, as it was clear I wasn't getting back to sleep again.

Finally, my driveway security light came on, which happens when my next door neighbor leaves for work, and I knew that it was then about half past four. By then I was feeling hungry, having eaten a sandwich for dinner before sunset. I got up and drank my breakfast orange juice, then had some iced tea with a couple of small donuts that aren't very good (and I won't buy those again.) A bit later I fixed a spicy kimchee flavored ramen bowl, which actually made me feel a bit better. Now I have to figure out what to do with the rest of the morning. I'm not thinking about the afternoon, as I expect I'll crash again then. Weird sleep pattern again.

I'm sure that isn't everything, but I can't think of anything else. I spent some time trying to dredge up old memories, but found them sketchy and depressing. I'll probably go watch some music videos. It's not supposed to rain again until Saturday, but it's going to stay cool. Oddly, there are only eight active wildfires burning in California right now. The 2022 season has only burned about 1/5 as much area as the average over the last five years. A fluke, I'm sure, but a nice one.
