Reset Forty-Seven, Day Seventy-Four
Feb. 12th, 2023 03:42 amAt some point it's no longer about thoughts or dreams or plans or imagination, it's just about getting through the day, or the night. Saturday I noticed that my bit is off. It's been a bit off for a while, but it was now more off. Biting on anything brings a pain in my let jaw. I wonder if it could be something going on with one of those impacted wisdom teeth I've never had taken care of? It's likely to catch up with me eventually, if I don't die first. At east the pain of chewing led me to eat a bit less than usual. MY dinner sandwich was accompanied by discomfort, but later (after a long nap) I had a bowl of ramen, which wasn't so bad.
While hunting for something else I came across a box of old candy. I mean really old, like years. Pre-pandemic old. It was pretty good candy when it was fresh, like little mini-bars of chocolate with various flavorings. I just ate three of them. They taste like chocolate, but also like the dust that rises from a sock drawer opened after several months smells. They taste like age, in fact, and sadness, and loss, and abandonment. What could be more appropriate?
The predicted high today has been revised upward to 71. It's a one-off, though. Not only is Tuesday predicted to peak at 52, but that night it will drop all the way down to 30. So we will get a range of 41 degree in the course of about forty-some hours. Ah, California. Also, today is Abraham Lincoln's birthday. We used to get this day off from school when I was a kid. Then ten days later we got George Washington's birthday off, on the 22nd. Interestingly (to me) enough, all the rain has vanished form out forecast except some afternoon showers on that day. The weather forecast, though, can tell lies. I'm betting we won't get any. But if we do I'm guessing it will be a massive freaking flood. I wonder if my poor feet will still be swollen and blistery? What a life.
