Reset Forty-Eight, Day Forty-Seven
Apr. 11th, 2023 06:58 amMonday turned balmy, as expected, and I had door and windows open for a few hours. It got up to 74 degrees in here. Now it's nearing dawn and the furnace still hasn't come on once. I'm saving so much money. Today is supposed to be a bit cooler, but I'm thinking I might be able to extend the furnace-free streak into early Wednesday morning. There will be cooler days Thursday and Friday, then it warms up again for a few days, and then cooler temperatures later in the month. April is on the mild side this year.
Monday dinner had to wait until after midnight, since I had a long evening nap, but it turned out well. I had a really hard time waking up from that nap. The balmy weather seems to have put me even more into the mood for sleeping. I'd thought it was just the allure of the covers during the chilly times that had me sleeping so much, but apparently not. I guess I'm just getting sleepier in my old age.
I got to sit outdoors for a while and listen to the birds, and various strollers and cyclists passing along the path. There were kids shooting hoops in the street out front, and for a while a couple of skateboarders in the parking lot of the apartment house next door. All very lively and springlike. It would have been nicer if I'd not heard (and smelled) the traffic on the freeway, but you can't have everything in the mini-metropolis. But you can have naps. Lots of naps. The naps are the best part.
