Reset Forty-Eight, Day Forty-Nine
Apr. 13th, 2023 06:26 amWednesday I got some laundry done, though it wasn't intentional. Or wasn't planned, anyway. The first of my packages from Kohl's arrived in early afternoon, containing the first of the blankets. It turned out to be a bit different than I'd expected— the fabric is considerably harder than that of the similar blankets I used to have— but will probably be okay. But it had instructions saying it should be washed before use, and oddly, I thought, that it should not be tumble dried.
The closest thing I've got to a clothesline here is the rod my shower curtain hangs from, so I decided I'd make do with that, and I tossed the thing into the washer. Of course I had to take down the shower curtain, which meant I might as well wash that, and as long as I was washing that I might as well wash other white pieces, and as long as I was washing all that stuff I might as well wash the other stuff. I got the blanket washed, and tossed another load into the washer, got the blanket draped over the shower rod, and an hour alter went out to put in the next load of laundry and put the other one into the dryer and... oh, no, the dryer wouldn't work. The button that turns the heat on wouldn't work, which has happened before.
Fuss and worry, and wondering if I could get my niece to take the wet stuff to her place to dry, and then calling the landlord, and finding that she knew about the dryer problem and it would be fixed, and recommending that I see the kids (millennials, no longer all that young but) in the apartment next door because they knew how to jiggle it just right to make the button engage, and then finding out they weren't home but deciding if they could make the thing work so could I, and succeeding, but only after spinning my wheels for half an hour. All very stressful. So, hours consumed, and the blanket not yet fully dry, but everything else done, except few pieces I stupidly forgot, but the day use dup, and exhausted so I had an evening nap.
Thing is there is still money to spend at Kohl's, and they sent me another coupon good for another 50% off their clearance prices, and I'd intended to use that, but what with all the distractions and busyness I never got around to it. I haven't done it post-nap, either, and the deal is only good through today, but I think I'm too tired to do it now, so it will probably have to wait until after I sleep again. I hope today doesn't turn all busy on me. I really want more of that stuff they've got on sale. Today I've been wearing old clothes that are now too small for me, and they make miserable, so I want to entirely replace that old wardrobe as soon as possible.
I wish my new blanket was ready to use, but it's still damp. Also acid reflux again, and there are leftovers from the dinner that brought it on. I don't think I want to eat them. And, drat, I forgot to look at the new grocery ads again. How do I get so far behind when I have next to nothing to do?
