Reset Forty-Nine, Day Thirty-Six
Jun. 29th, 2023 05:54 amSomehow I was unable to get any decent sleep Wednesday, and all sorts of stuff was annoying me (sore toes crampy legs acidic stomach itchy... everywhere.) Perhaps it was that which led me to impulsively, and probably foolishly, buy some more crap from Kohl's. They were nagging me with emails about another clearance sale, and when I checked their site I saw actual Levis at prices they haven't had since the seventies, so I snagged two pair.
Then I had to buy a couple of shirts to get the free shipping, and then I saw a couple of pairs of socks I just had to try, and finally I remembered that I hadn't upsized my boxer shorts, and there was a sale on the normally $42 dollar 5-pack (I know, isn't it ridiculous?) for pennies under thirty bucks, and it was a pack with two bonus pair, so I had to add those. With tax I ended up pending 116 bucks and change, but at least the monotony of the horribly hot week net week will be broken up a bit by the arrival of some stuff.
It could have been worse, as earlier I had ben looking online for one of those fresnel lens thin plastic magnifiers, as my eyes are getting worse and I need something to help me read, and I came across one for less than two bucks, but it was from that new Chinese merchandising site Temu, and when I went to their site I found loads of stuff that I don't actually need but which might be nice to have, and it is allincredibly cheap, so I seriously considered snagging a bunch of that crap, but was saved by hunger and exhaustion when I had to stop and eat and then take a nap. And then when I woke up I went to Kohls and never got back to Temu. But I know it's still waiting out there, and I'm not safe by any means.
As a warning to myself I'm linking to this song by Arcade Fire, "Everything Now," which has the line "'til every room in my house is filled with shit I couldn't live without." Yup. Can't live without it. Except for the most part I have, for four and a half years now. Most of the time I miss only the cats. But. Can't make it back again.
