Reset Forty-Nine, Day Forty-Five
Jul. 8th, 2023 06:51 amThe groceries are all fetched, and I'm probably set for another two weeks, though it would be nice if the store had not substituted Guinness Draft for Guinness Stout. The Draft is pumped up with nitrogen, which to my taste waters it down (it's actually less alcoholic) and give it an odd flavor. I also wanted some candy, but neither store had the kind I wanted. But I've got several microwave items for the hot weather, plus stuff for sandwiches, so I can probably survive.
Forecasts are getting scarier. After a pleasant (for July) weekend, we will get the heat back, followed by ten consecutive days of triple digit highs starting next Thursday. If I die during that period my heirs can save on cremation costs by simply leaving my cadaver out on the pavement to spontaneously combust. It's an ill wind that blows no good. We won't be getting any actual wind, though. Just the usual sultry southern breezes, day after tedious day.
I hope I remember to turn on the fan at night from now on, when I can use it. I forgot Friday night and now the place is stultifying, despite the cool night we just had. I'll have to turn on the air conditioner again for a while before I can sleep. Stupider every day. Thanks, dementia.
