The slightly cooler days are not being less exhausting than the hotter ones were, I find. My second package arrived Thursday, though later in the day than I'd have liked, but I haven't even opened it yet. This will be the air fryer. I have to figure out a place to keep it before I take it out of the box. It will probably be on the table with the computer. Most of the table is currently covered with other stuff, mostly paper. I'll be able to discard some of that, but other stuff will also have to have a new home. And then I still need to set up the juicer/blender that arrived the day before. The thought of all that just wears me out before I've even begun to actually do anything.

The recent questionable behavior of my stomach has left me gun shy about eating, so all I had Thursday was some cheese an crackers, and a bottle of Guinness. If I get that juice open I might make something vegetable-based with it, there being an almost total absence of fruit in the house. I have no idea what I've got on hand for when I get the air fryer set up. Lots of potatoes, certainly, but not much else. I should start working on the list for my next shopping trip. There are new possibilities.

The days are going to be staying in the nineties, according to the forecast, and the nights dropping down into the sixties, so not utterly horrifying, even though nothing to cheer about. At least we've got plenty of water this year, and so far no significant fires in this area. Odds of survival: tolerable.

Recently somebody mentioned Bobbie Gentry, the singer who had an unexpected hit with her song "Ode to Billy Joe" back in the late 1960s. After firing up the YouTube and listening to it, I got to wondering what became of her, and the Idernet informed me that she retired from music in 1981, and has since made herself scarce. Around that time she was briefly married to singer-humorist Jim Stafford, and they had a son, Tyler. It turns out that Tyler Stafford is also a singer and songwriter, based in Reno, Nevada. A few of his songs have made their way to the YouTube, and I've listened to some of them, and I find I like them. One in particular I just came across is quite impressively haunting. It's called "Grey or Blue Skies," and shows off Stafford's vocal and guitar skills admirably, as well as being an example of first-rate tunesmithing. Well worth a listen, especially if you like folk/country tinged music.

Update with correction: Although a Google search on "Bobbie Gentry son" or "Jim Stafford son" will fetch a link to Tyler Stafford's web site, it turns out he is not that Tyler Stafford. Google (GASP!) got it wrong. Gentry and Stafford's son was born in 1978, and the singer from Reno was born about 1985. The Idernet seems to have no idea what has become of Tyler Gentry Stafford (Bobbie and Jim's son.) It could be that, like his mom, he has just decided to avoid the limelight altogether. In the meantime, Google misdirects people to singer-songwriter Tyler Stafford's website. Perhaps that will be a good thing for him. I found him because of that misdirection, but once I heard him I was hooked. I suspect many others will be too. He is quite good.
