Reset Forty-Nine, Day Eighty-Three
Aug. 15th, 2023 08:30 amGot an email from Kohl's saying I could get an extra 50% off clearance items, so I went to see if I could find another of the shirts I got a couple of months ago that I really like. Sadly, they were out of large and I didn't want to risk getting a medium that would likely be too tight. I also looked for a hooded flannel shirt I'd had my eye on, but those too were gone. I ought to have searched the site much earlier in the day, before it got completely picked over. Still I did manage to find seven items (twelve if you count each of the five tank tops in one package individually) I can use, for a bit less than sixty bucks total, which I guess is not bad these days. But now I have to sweat delivery for the next several days. Waiting for packages makes me nervous.
Other than that, Monday was the usual monotony and wheel-spinning. I did remember the wheelie bin this week, by delaying my evening nap until it had been taken out, and then I had a post-midnight sandwich for dinner, after things had cooled down. The day had been unexpectedly overcast, but that did little to moderate the heat, and after nightfall it actually made the evening hotter by keeping a lid on the sky. Today will be a stinking hot day followed by a stinking hot night, and Wednesday will bring the same. We'll be lucky to get significant cooling by September. We probably won't get appreciable rain until November at the earliest.
I'm feeling very much like Shirley Manson:
