Reset Forty-Nine, Day One Hundred-Twenty
Sep. 21st, 2023 07:29 amWednesday I boiled the last ear of corn from my last shopping order, and there was probably something else with it that I don't remember eating, though I believe there was also a bottle of Guinness to drink, which may have contributed to my poor memory of everything else that evening. I do recall visiting the mailbox near the end of the driveway and finding nothing in it, which made the long walk back to my door a bit duller (sometimes there will be something like a card for a cable company or a pizza parlor with a picture to look at.) On the whole, the day was nothing to journal about. Nevertheless, I just did.
Later I went to sleep, which also failed to surprise me, and was further (though slightly less) unsurprised by waking up once again a few hours later, before the night had fully passed. Since then I have done a number of unsurprising things, one of which was to make some grits, which I just finished eating a short time ago. I am now waiting to see if they set off my acid reflux. If they don't, I will have found at least one carbohydrate that doesn't, and will stock up in my next shopping order. I will also go back to sleep, as I'm already nodding off, but it's still too soon after eating. Half an hour, perhaps.
In the meantime I intend to look at yesterday's supermarket ads, which I kept forgetting to do, and I'm checking the weather. There is a red flag warning for fire danger today due to the usual dryness and to gusty winds that are expected to arrive soon. But the good news is that there are no highs in the nineties in the current ten day forecast, for the first time in months. Man, I thought they'd never leave. If we can avoid having everything burst into flames I think we might have a fairly enjoyable October.
Now, the grocery ads. Hoping for some good deals. And no reflux.
