Tuesday afternoon brought some rain showers after all, though they were brief and light. Still, they were sufficient to leave the pavement dark and the air smelling like autumn. It was very soothing, and I was, not surprisingly, a bit tired, so I flopped down on the bed to listen to the rhythm of drops falling in the downspout outside my window, and I fell asleep. Then I woke up and that's when I got lost. It had gotten dark, and when I looked at my phone the display said it was 7:50, but I didn't remember when I went to sleep and so I imagined it was 7:50 in the morning. I thought well, it's staying dark awfully late now, and decided to go back to sleep for a few minutes until the sun came up. When I woke up again it was 11:30 and still dark, and after a brief moment wondering if this was the day the eclipse was supposed to happen I realized my mistake and fully woke myself with a Homer Simpson D'oh!

So I've lived through a whole might I'd thought I was done with, and I must say the second time, when it actually happened, was much more tedious than the first, when it didn't. But isn't that the way reality always goes? Stuff happening is often terribly stressful, while nothing happening is seldom anything worse than rather dull. I guess I was lucky to get away with mere tediousness tonight. It could have been so much worse.

Anyway, now we are heading for a fairly cool day, and a couple of mild weeks, and and then a truly stormy season
might arrive. And at the moment my keyboard and mouse are being total shit, so I have to stop or I'll never get to bed.
