When I woke up the room was dark, or darkish at least. It seemed that light was coming through the window blinds. I had no memory of going to bed, or the previous day, but I assumed that the brightness of the blinds meant that dawn was arriving outside. Then I saw the lights of an airplane flashing as it flew by. That was wrong. If the blinds were closed the airplane couldn't be seen. So I sat up and turned on the lamp on the bedside table. The blinds were open. Then I realized why I couldn't remember the previous day. It was still the same day. I had opened the blinds to let the afternoon sun fall on the bed while I napped, and had napped way longer than I'd expected. The light coming in the window was from the tall streetlamp in the parking lot of the apartment house next door.

When I checked the clock it was only half past eight. Instead of having my breakfast donut, I had to figure out what to fix for dinner. I finally decided on a frozen lasagna. I've been eating Michael Angelo's vegetable lasagnas for a couple of decades now, and though they're not as good as they used to be, I've never had a really bad one... until now. It was really quite awful. When I got it out of the oven the sauce was brown instead of the usual red, and for a moment I thought they had mistakenly put a meat lasagna in a vegetable lasagna package, but it had no discernable meat in it. It was just very badly made, and the ingredients were not as fresh as they could have been. I have one more sitting in the freezer, and if it is as bad as this one was I doubt I'll ever buy their products again. The vegetable lasagna was the only one I really liked anyway, and I'll miss it as it once was, but there'll be no point in eating something that vile again. I didn't even finish this one.

This morning the new supermarket ads come out, and I intend to see which store has the best deals and decide whether I order something Friday or Monday. Friday will be the last balmy day, and Monday is apt to be rainy, so Friday would probably be better, but the store that has a Monday sale has sent me a twenty dollars off a hundred deal, so if their selection of sale items is at least equal to the other store's they've definitely got the edge this week, rain or shine. But I'm going to wait until after I sleep again before I check. The long night has caught up with me.
