The soggy Monday let me sleep, but fitfully, as it periodically made a great noise of water and wind, which woke me repeatedly. They never lasted too long after I woke, and I would lie there listening to the fury fade, and in time return to sleep until the next meteorological tantrum arrived. The entire middle of the day passed thusly, and I had numerous thoughts that at the time I thought interesting, and several fantasies which at the time I found engaging, though ultimately they all washed away with the passing, sleep-drenched storm hours. I preserve little anymore, and soon enough I suppose it will be nothing at all.

Late afternoon I woke up in time for a lull in the storm to allow me dry though chilly passage to the mailbox, a task which I failed to realized was pointless, as it was a holiday and the mail trucks and the magazine-ruining carriers were all suspended in that holiday limbo which, in my old age, means so little to me, even though it is more like my daily life than holidays ever were when I was more affected by them. And I hope that long sentence makes some sense, as I don't feel like fixing it if it doesn't, and so don't intend to even check it. In any case, it means I squandered the afternoon, and then the evening, and didn't even fix dinner before I found myself growing sleepy again.

O soporific music of wind and rain! How I rest when you embrace my ears!

The subsequent evening nap stretched long, even longer than the day's nap had, and I found myself abed until half past four this morning. There has been rain off and on since then, but the fury has gone out of it, for now at least. Having grown somewhat chilly, I indulged myself with an additional degree of heat on the thermostat, though I continue to drape myself with a fuzzy throw. (This is surely better than throwing myself with a fuzzy drape. In fact I have no idea how that would even work.) In any case, I've had my morning donut and tea, and am now contemplating a bit of more substantial food. I think I might microwave a ramen bowl. It's loaded with sodium and not especially nutritious, but damn is it easy to fix! And since my brain is firing on less than a full complement of cylinders, and myself not being mechanically minded I don't even know just what that metaphor even means, I think easy is just what I need. I certainly need no more silliness, and thus should STFU!
