Oh look, it's gone all Saturday on me. Again. It's like it still happens every few days. You'd think I'd have figured that out by now, but no. Always getting blindsided. But this time it follows a Friday that turned out pretty good despite being so inadequate. I didn't get free ("free") muffins at Safeway, but I did get two new light bulbs in my range hood. The muffins would have been "free" because they had them two packs (four muffins each) for five bucks on their Friday sale, and I had a shopping reward-based coupon for five bucks off a purchase of five bucks or more in the bakery department, so could have gotten the eight muffins ($11.99 worth at the regular price) for no cash out of pocket. Alas, I let the opportunity slip through my hands, and Saturday has brought no equivalent.

But I've got lights. My nephew found two LED bulbs that work quite well. They are brighter than the old incandescent bulbs of the same wattage, which leads me to suspect that one of the two old bulbs had burned out before the other, and I had simply failed to notice because I have grown so unobservant with the onset of galloping dementia (that claim is but slightly hyperbolic. Seriously. I am now quite stupid.)

Friday had some impressively blustery wind, with a few gusts that rattled the windows, and also had some intermittent rain, as expected, but there was no mail to be ruined. I went out while no rain was falling, so I didn't get wet either, though my feet later got wet because they spent half an hour soaking that evening. They have been rather sore and swollen recently, and have required this extra attention more than once. I've been soaking them in a hydrogen peroxide solution, as the Epsom salts I used to use seem to have lost their mojo. It turns out the hydrogen peroxide is also good for reducing the itching with which my feet have been plagued for some time. So far there's been no reduction of the swelling though. Maybe they've just gotten fat, like my ass.

The weather forecast is still predicting showers and possible thunderstorms today, but so far there's been nothing. In fact at the moment the patch of sky I can see out my back window is clear and bright blue, and I see that the buds on the bush that has taken over my back yard are starting to open. Soon there will be an abundance of little white flowers out there. Spring. How Depressing. All those cheerful bird chirps, and the unreasoning jollity of April's fools. Oh, March, let the days linger grey though they lengthen, and keep the waning nights nicely chilled a bit longer! Spring is just a step toward summer, and summer here is, I am sure, the object of hell's envy.
