Groceries were successfully fetched Monday, although a couple of items were unavailable (Guinness, not surprisingly following St. Gertrude's Day, being one of them) and and I rather stupidly ordered a gallon of milk instead of a half gallon. I also found in my order a substitution I had rejected through the store's text messaging system, but when I checked the receipt I didn't see it, so apparently they didn't charge me for it. That store's system, like their web site, is way too complex, and it now seems they are even confusing their own employees.

But I did get my annual loaf of Irish soda bread, and my donut, orange juice, and milk supplies have been replenished (over-replenished in the case of the milk) and I did have enough Guinness on hand already to see me through to the next shopping trip. There have been worse shopping days, but damn it was exhausting. I hate dealing with that store's web site in particular. Whoever is redesigning it does not have the store's (or its customers') best interests at heart. That ill-advised web site redesign is the main reason I've been buying way more stuff from Safeway than from Raley's over the last few months.

Aside from the mostly successful shopping, Monday was a fairly wretched day. I felt crappy pretty much all day long, and ended up sleeping instead of eating dinner, and I'm still not feeling great today. I've ben sneezing and my nose has been running a lot, and I'm quite sure it's pollen from all the suddenly blooming plants. The next few days, spring-warm as they'll be, are apt to be quite unpleasant for me. I'm happy not to have the damned furnace running all the time, but I wish nature could hold off on the pollenating a bit longer. The annual vegetative orgy seems to get worse every year as I get older. I was hoping that the local hive honey I've been using in my tea would help diminish the allergic reactions, but maybe the hype around that is just exaggeration.

After getting up at almost four o'clock this morning I was thinking I could have last night's missed dinner for breakfast again, but I find my self lacking in either appetite or energy. It will probably have to serve as lunch, because I'm pretty sure I need to get some more sleep. I also need to do stuff like wash some laundry, but I guess that will have to be put off yet again. Sic transit sick.
