Wednesday I remembered to eat one of my frozen lasagnas before the heat wave makes the oven horrible to use. It was quite tasty, and I made a bit of salad to go with it. I wished that I'd also made some garlic toast, but I hadn't because didn't have the right kind of bread on hand... and then when I was almost done eating I remembered that I had some hamburger buns going stale, which would have served quite nicely. Old guy being stupid again. Later I got hungry again, and I made some more pasta. Egg noodles, with butter and oil and some cheese. And again I forgot the hamburger buns. Ah, well, I'd have eaten too much if I'd made garlic toast then anyway.
This is supposed to be a grocery week, and I found that Safeway has too little on sale this week, even including the Friday sale, so I'm going to wait and get something on Monday from another store that has its weekly sale on that day. Only later did I realize that this will screw with my mailing of the rent check. I don't mail it from the apartment because the mail carriers here tend to be flaky and not pick stuff up, and I no longer have the energy to walk to my nearest public mailbox, so I have my niece drop it off when she brings the groceries. But Monday is too late to mail it and have it get there on time. That means I have to ask her to make special trip to pick up the check and mail it. I hate to do that. I know the stupid old guy is probably annoying, so try to minimize my requests. That way I mostly just annoy myself. But this time I guess it can't be helped.
Today is supposed to be 88 degrees. Starting tomorrow it will be in the nineties for seven days in a row, and even a few of the nights will be in the mid sixties, which will be too warm to allow the fan and open windows to cool the place enough to last all the next hot day. I fear I'll have to turn the air conditioner on at some point next week. May is too early, but again it probably can't be helped. I'm really not looking forward to this summer.
