Reset Forty-Nine, Day Four Hundred-One
Jul. 1st, 2024 07:37 amSunday blurred by and fell into the memory hole, and the only thing I recall clearly was microwaving a package of noodles, then adding a bit of spicy sauce to them because they were too bland, and then getting acid reflux. I slept with the fan going and window open, and it got down to 75 degrees in here overnight. I'm thinking this is the coolest it will be for at least two weeks, and probably even longer. One of the highs of 114 in the ten day forecast is now upgraded to 115. That's only two degrees off the all time local record of 117. I expect the record to fall this summer, along with more than a few local citizens. The hot shit is hitting the fan.
The browser's fight with YouTube is getting worse. Crash after crash Sunday, every time a video shows up even as a thumbnail in search results. I have no idea what's going on, but I'm totally sick of it. Idernet videos are my only source of music, and I need music to get through both days and nights.
Plumbers should be here today and maybe get my hot water back on. It's apt to be chaos with comings and goings and noise. As the new water lines are going over the roof I hope they put good insulation over them. Getting hottish water from the cold line in summer would be annoying, but having the lines freeze in the winter could be catastrophic. A flood from broken overhead pipes would be way worse than anything flooding jut the floor.
I hope I have time to wash up (with water heated in a pan on the stove) before the plumbers start banging on my door. The heat has had me sweating like... I don't know. The cast of "A Streetcar Named Desire"? Somebody who sweats a lot. I do not like summer. I am especially not liking this summer. But there's no way to speed it by. After it's over I'll wonder where it went, but right now it feels like it's never going to leave.
