Reset Fifty, Day Fifty

Grocery day was exhausting, as usual, and when the foodstuffs finally arrived after six o'clock Friday evening I stuffed the chilled things into the refrigerator as quickly and as best I could and left the rest in bags while I got into bed and crashed for several hours. I didn't even check my mailbox until this morning. There were a couple of substitutions in my grocery order, and one out-of-stock item was omitted, but on the whole it wasn't too bad. I've got most of what I wanted, or at least of what I remembered I wanted. I'm bound to miss things I forgot I needed. Now I have to go through the refrigerator and try to arrange things more rationally than I did in my haphazard attempt last night. I'm pretty sure there is cheese in my vegetable bin.

It's not as cool here as it was Friday morning, and probably won't be again until Monday morning, and after that it will be getting hotter again for several days. Five days with triple digit highs, in fact. Unpleasant. But later in the month there will be a day with a high of 87 and a n 18% chance of rain. There is always hope for September. My first full month in Buttehole County was a September, and it got very rainy. That was 38 years ago. Damn, I've been here way too long. I think I need a drink.

I was going to eat some breakfast, but now I'm thinking I might have a nap instead. Breakfast often causes acid reflux, and so far napping never has. Unless I eat something first, of course. Which is why I'm now thinking I ought to skip breakfast, and just nap. After a drink. I still need a drink. The air has gotten dry and I'm parched. Napping when parched seldom works out.

Ooh, I hear a mourning dove. That's a nice song to go to sleep to, but I'll need to close the windows very soon. The day is heating up rapidly. Too bad.
