51/07: Tiem Flies
Sep. 19th, 2024 10:32 amWednesday I actually ate Wednesday dinner partly on Wednesday, and then let it settle for an hour or so before going to sleep. I managed to sleep for about six hours, interrupted by a couple of absolutely excruciating leg cramps, then got up in the appalling bright light this morning. I had to untangle myself from a blanket that was trying to kill me, and that probably took at least a few days off of my life so I'm considering it a draw. Two things are not my friends: fabrics and California sunshine.
The morning breeze brought me the scent of laundry detergent, or perhaps fabric softener, so I'm assuming the laundry room is in use and my pile of soiled garments (fabrics again!) will not be dealt with this morning. Not unless the Laundry Fairy appears and washes them for me, something which has never happened in my lifetime but for which I never entirely give up hope. As for this afternoon, it's heating up again and will hit 90 degrees, and I might collapse in despair before I can do anything.
Buzzy is still alive. Wednesday afternoon I saw him hanging out on a napkin on the table, and he didn't fly away when my hand got near him, so I think he has gotten used to me and trusts me now, or he is senile and doesn't remember how dangerous humans are, or maybe he's just so old and tired he doesn't care what happens to him anymore. I totally get that. Anyway, I didn't see him this morning and thought perhaps he had died overnight, but just now he appeared on the napkin again. He isn't hanging out though. He just made a brief appearance and then flew away. I'm sure he's near the end of his life cycle, and it might be that he just came to give me his goodbye. I feel a bit guilty that I didn't die first, knowing how much flies enjoy cadavers. Goodbye, Buzz. I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
