My Big Bag O' ShirtsTM was delivered Friday afternoon and I am for the most part pleased with it. They were a bit more expensive than I'd like (the eight of them will end up costing me about sixteen bucks each, and for the last couple of decades I've been accustomed to getting shirts at Kmart for three or four bucks each on clearance, but of course these are of a higher quality than the stuff I got from Kmart. Still, I feel quite extravagant about it. The list price on a few of these was eighty bucks, so I've gotten a serious discount, but jeez, I never thought I'd live to see J. C. Penney's selling eighty dollar shirts. My mom's ashes are probably turning over in their urn.

I am a bit disappointed with one shirt which, though very nice itself, does not match the picture that I saw on the store's web site. There, it had an interesting pattern to it, sort of a midcentury take on cubism in various shades of red which the description called rhubarb. But the actual shirt turns out to be a solid color which sort of approximates the color of rhubarb, but to my eye is closer to the color of a dark red wine— Burgundy, perhaps. It is a very nice shirt, originally sixty bucks and marked down to $9.99, and quite comfy. Maybe I should have gotten two of them. But I do regret the spiffy pattern I was expecting it to have.

One more shirt is to arrive today, delivered by UPS, from somewhere back east I think. The big package Friday was delivered from a fulfillment center in Reno, Nevada by OnTrac. I think OnTrac only covers the area west of the Rockies, and maybe not all of that. Had I not subscribed to their text notifications I would not have known it had been delivered, as I didn't hear the guy knock, even though I was in the living room and even not fifteen feet from the door. I thought that was odd. It might be that he pushed the button of the non-working door bell and failed to notice that nothing rang.

Anyway, I've got shirts for the warm weather now, and the warm is definitely coming, though the latest forecast shows only four days of triple digit highs next week rather than the eight it was showing earlier. Those other days will still be getting into the high nineties, though, so not a whole lot of improvement, but every bit helps. It will be 86 today. I can probably survive.

Oh, and I'm still stupid. I just let my phone battery run down to zero yet again and ha to wait for it to recharge enough to et me reconnect to the Idernet so I could post this. Well, at least it gave me time to toast an English muffin and make a glass of chocolate milk with a shot of brandy, so I won't go to bed hungry like the homeless guy I'd probably be someday if I were going to outlive that insurance money.

Mmm, cinnamon toasted English muffin. Mmm, chocolate and brandy. Mmm, bedtime.
