Reset Forty-Nine, Day Eighty-Five

The days I get are not the days I want, but that's nothing new. Wednesday was definitely unwanted for California. Seven wildfires got started, four of them in the three northernmost counties, where three got started the previous day. Fire season is starting with a bang. Or multiple bangs, as the overcast I noted Tuesday brought many lightning strikes with it. Once it gets going, a wildfire can take a very long time to go out, so we'll be living with this lot for months to come. So far I'm not seeing or smelling any smoke here, so the wind must be sending it north. Sorry, Oregon. I'm sure we'll get our share, though, in time, and probably some closer fires as well.

In more local and immediate disappointments, Safeway's sale this week is so piss-poor that I've decided I'll probably wait another week to get stuff. It means going without donuts for a whole week, but I've bought far enough ahead on other stuff that I probably won't run out of anything else crucial. I wish I still had the energy to run down to Grocery Outlet, or hop the bus to one of the other stores, but I fear those days are over. Decrepitude, alas, insists on limits. Another reason the days I get are not the days I want.

Sitting here nodding off, I doubt I'll find anything else to say, and I really ought to go to bed and try to sleep anyway.

Sorry to hear about the new fires, with all the previous rain you had I thought you were good.

Unfortunately the brush dries out rapidly once the rain is over, especially this time of year.
