Reset Fifty, Day Thirty-Four

rejectomorphAs drywall guy didn't get here Tuesday after all it's possible he'll show up today, and if so odds are he'll show up around nine or ten in the morning, right when I want to be sleeping. Them's the breaks, I guess. Buggers can't be choosers? Something like that. The sleep has been odd, and I didn't fix dinner until about four in the morning, so I'll be going to bed stuffed. It wasn't a dinner apt to generate reflux, so I'm not going to worry about that. I'll just worry I'll get woken up too soon. I hate that.
For some reason thoughts of my elementary school teachers kept popping into my head Tuesday. Mrs. Finder in kindergarten, Miss Jones in first grade before we moved, Mrs. Johnson in first grade after we moved, Miss Wachter in second grade, the inappropriately named Mrs. Friend in third grade, Mrs. Crow (who was missing all or parts of three fingers on her right hand) in fourth grade, and Mrs. Leader in fifth grade. I'm a bit surprised that I still remember their names, but not surprised that I can't really remember their faces beyond vague impressions. I had pictures of some of them as part of class pictures, but those burned.
I don't know why I'm suddenly thinking of them now, aside from the fact that I've got one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. They are surely all dead by now, except perhaps Miss Wachter, who was fresh out of college. She was probably 22 or 23, so could still be around some seventy years later in her mid-nineties. I wonder if she would remember me? The weird kid. Probably not. I wasn't that weird.
It's not quite as cool as yesterday morning, but still sleepable enough. And I've had a beer with my belated dinner. I should be able to pas out pretty easily, I just hope drywall guy doesn't come and wake me up too soon
