51/47: Burn that Money!

rejectomorphTo my surprise, here it is a chilly Tuesday morning and the furnace hasn't come on yet. I've been expecting it since Sunday night or Monday morning, but somehow the apartment has only now gotten down to the temperature at which I've got the thermostat set. In fact I'm starting to worry that it might be broken. But I'm giving it a bit more time, and if the thermometer goes to 68 without engaging the furnace then I'll put the thermostat up to 70, and if it doesn't go on then, well, I've got more bad news for the landlord. Another repair, kaching.
Actually I'll be wanting to get to bed soon, so if it doesn't come on soon I'll boost the thermostat before it drops to 68, and let the chips fall where they may. Mmm, chips. Maybe I should fry some potatoes before bed. It's been about four hours since I had my Monday dinner sandwich for early morning snack. Something to do while waiting for the furnace.
And there it goes! And does it ever stink! That's a whole summer's worth of dust (and pollen) in those vents. And here's the first sneeze! And does that ever hurt! I'm so glad it's underway, so it will soon be over. Man, I hate the first heat of the fall, but it is nice to have that excess chill off the room. And now, potatoes!
