51/92: Drench
Dec. 14th, 2024 08:12 amFriday night I slept a long time, but then woke up with a bad stomach ache. It must have been from the microwaved frozen entrée I had for dinner, but I don't know why the onset of the ache was delayed so long. Just lucky, I guess. Anyway, I finally had to get up because I was too miserable to get back to sleep, and I had to check the floor to see if it was wet, since I had been hearing falling furiously for at least half an hour, and the wind blowing with a noise like a freight train. When I got up the floor was still dry, and I couldn't get a good look outdoors because it was still dark, but once the light began to appear I could see the driveway looking like a turbid river, but not yet overflowing into the house. A short time later the rain finally eased up, and it hasn't returned to the earlier intensity since, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did sometime later today.
I've had my morning orange juice (the stuff from Trader Joe's, which has an unpleasant plastic flavor) and some cinnamon toast (still out of donuts) and the stomach ache has diminished, though there is still some discomfort, and I'm wondering if I might be able to go back to bed soon. I'm still tired, despite having had perhaps seven hours of sleep, and I really have no reason to stay up on this rainy Saturday. Well, I could empty the waste basket that is nearly overflowing in the kitchen, but there's no way I'm going out to the wheelie bins until I get a serious break in the rain. There's no telling when that might happen, but at least if I'm asleep I'm not generating any new trash for the overflowing waste basket. And even if I don't get back to sleep, it's a nice day to be lying in bed reading.
