52/152: Peak
Jul. 3rd, 2025 02:57 amHere's the hottest night of the week. I'm not handling it well. The apartment got up to 84 degrees by nine o'clock, when I could turn the air conditioner on with less risk of bankruptcy. The weather channel's forecasts are up the spout, by the way, with error after obvious error showing up, and I think it's because they have always gotten their information from the National Weather Service, which some mendacious asshole (I wonder who?) recently gutted. I'm no longer convinced I can rely on the prediction of a cooler day on Friday. I need that cooler day.
On the good side, I finally remembered to put some Thuja ointment on the sore callous on my left elbow, and it is much improved even after only one night. I'll apply it again tonight and see how the callous feels tomorrow. If that works I think I'll try putting some on the sore rough area on my foot.
My belated dinner is consumed and trying to settle. I hope I can turn the fan on and open some windows soon, and go to sleep. I'm suddenly quite tired. But first I want to link to one of the most eerie (and gorgeous) songs of the mid-20th century, Nick Drake's "River Man." I had forgotten about it, but it turned up in my YouTube recommendations today and I've been playing it repeatedly since. It's really capturing my (big) mood.
