As I was sitting under the mulberry tree, I heard the sound of a hummingbird behind me, and felt the wind of its wings. By the time I looked around, it had gone, the buzzing sound vanishing into the leaves above me. I was reminded of the time in Los Angeles when a hummingbird built its tiny nest at the end of a device intended to hold a hanging flower pot, which was suspended from the roof of the breezeway between my house and garage. I was able to get a look at the miniature eggs, and, later, watch the bird feeding its chicks. This memory sent me in search of a web site about hummingbirds, and I found this one. It has some nice pictures of nesting birds, and all sorts of interesting bits of information about them. For example, I did not know that spider web is one of the hummingbird's building materials. Fascinating little buggers, really.
